Minuteman Missile National Historic Site is one of the nation's newest national park areas. Located on the Interstate 90 travel corridor in western South Dakota, this Cold War commemoration is not yet open to the public. Although the resources protected at this site relate directly to the Minuteman Missile program, the site's story will include the larger issues of the Cold War era. The exact acreage for the National Historic Site has yet to be determined. The NPS is currently involved in the planning process to determine the future of this site.

Operating Hours & Seasons

On April 1, 2004 the NPS will start taking reservations for tours. The tours will be conducted twice daily, Monday through Friday, beginning on May 31, 2004 (Memorial Day) and ending on September 6, 2004 (Labor Day). Tours are approximately two hours in length and are limited to six people per tour.
To obtain a reservation, call the Minuteman Missile NHS Project Office beginning April 1st at 605-433-5552 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. MST, Monday - Friday.

Each tour will begin at the Project Office, Exit 131 off of Interstate 90. The morning tour will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and the afternoon tour at 1:30 p.m. MDT.

Tours are not recommended for people uncomfortable with heights or confined spaces. Pets are not allowed and should not be left unattended in vehicles due to extreme temperatures.
